On my way to work in Saigon

I have spent a lot of time in foreign countries to understand their language and way of life.  I now reside in San Francisco and have created two blogs to share my discoveries and experiences.

THE BLOGS:

1. A Global Citizen – This is my personal blog which will pertain mostly to San Francisco and the Bay Area

2.  The Global Citizen – This is for the “internationally minded” and resembles a newspaper or digest.  The opinions here are from “international” people and strives to offer opinions based on world experience which often run counter to the mainstream.

ABOUT ME:

Foreign languages and cultures have been my passion ever since my days as a student at The Ohio State University.  During these sojourns I developed a much deeper understanding of the world, history, languages and cultures.  Through these experiences, I realized how little I actually knew and thus gained an intense desire to increase my knowledge and continue on the journey.

After graduation, I went to Japan as an English teacher for a period of three years and was astounded to see my world viewpoint turned on it’s head yet again from the Asian perspective.  I began to feel restless and the need to learn even more and then found myself in Ho Chi Minh City where I stayed for a period of two years.

Towards the end of my 20s I found that I had attained a great deal of insight concerning the world but that it might be beneficial to concentrate on my professional career and thus returned to the USA.  I currently reside in San Francisco and have righted what was lacking professionally yet my passion remains in the cobbled streets of Toledo, the dizzying lights of Tokyo and the cafés of Saigon.

I hope to one day return abroad to continue my discoveries but for now I am very content in the Bay Area due to its diversity, historical aspects and career opportunities.  This blog will focus on San Francisco and greater California but I will also be pulling *most of* my own feeds from The Global Citizen.
